Baby Cadence – 1 Month – Mt. Juliet Newborn Photography

Maybe you remember sweet baby Cadence’s parents from this session. I was so excited to get to meet her as well! She was so precious and was unbelievably well-behaved for a one month old. What a joy to photograph all of her newborn beauty. Thanks to Nancy and Kyle for letting me photograph you and your adorable daughter!

The Joy of Adoption – Mt. Juliet Family Photography

Perhaps one of the greatest joys in my photographic career came on Saturday evening when I got to photograph little 18 month old Sophie meeting one of her older brothers, older sister and the rest of her extended family. A crowd of about 50 family members and friends gathered at the Nashville Airport to welcome home Sophie with her new parents and her oldest brother. My heart was overflowing with joy in anticipation and throughout the whole “event.” You can see from the photos and video (at the very bottom) that I was not the only one feeling that way. Adoption is truly amazing and a wonderful picture of how God loves those outside of His family and brings them to be part of it. Thank you, Anderson family, for allowing me to be the one to record this great event for your family. Love you guys!

Mt. Juliet Maternity Photography – Nancy and Kyle

Despite these photos having been taken over a month ago (yikes!) I’m just now getting them posted. I so enjoyed meeting and hanging out with Kyle and Nancy this spring afternoon. They live on the edge of Mt. Juliet and had some great space for taking photos! I loved the nearby wheat field most! By now their sweet baby girl has made her appearance. Hopefully I’ll get to photograph her one day too! Thanks, Kyle and Nancy for such a fun session!

The R Family

This large family was all together for the weekend. Part of the celebration was due to little Miss A turning 3. I am pretty sure I could have photographed her all day long! She had a winning smile that she very willingly used. As for her baby brother, we took some of him indoors on another day. He was also very generous with his smiles during his mini-shoot. There were lots of great shots from this session, but here are just a few of my favorites.

See what I mean?!

I am in love with this full-body laugh his dad got out of him!

I know this shot isn’t your traditional photo, but you probably know by now I usually prefer non-traditional shots anyways!
I just love the tenderness that this sister gave on her own to comfort her new baby brother as their mom was coming to the rescue.

And speaking of non-traditional, how about a group leaf shot?

Baby Foster

Meet baby Foster (15 days old) and his 3 older siblings. Aren’t they all so precious? I loved watching their interactions both with each other and with Foster. Thanks to Cindy and Rusty for the joy of spending time with you and your beautiful children!

Mylo Again

I am not quite sure how I overlooked posting other photos from this shoot. Can I blame it on the international move?!

Mylo (remember him?) was the perfect little model on this warm Aberdeen Saturday. He did not like to get wet (from the grass) when he tried to crawl he stayed right where we put him. That, combined with his great mood, made for some adorable shots and very easy photographing on my part!  Happy (belated) first birthday to Mylo!  Elizabeth and Rez, thanks again for trusting me to photograph you and your little boy.

I’ve got the POWER!!!

I know I don’t typically just do one picture posts, but this one from a session yesterday was in a class all by itself. This is little Mylo who was incredibly laid back and sweet during the entire session….until he was given this mobile….

Power hungry, wouldn’t you say?

More from his session to come.

Jamie and Family

Melissa and Justin wanted to document Jamie’s upcoming third birthday the end of this month and so we set out to get some portraits of him. They also asked that I go ahead and take some other family shots, especially since we were unable to do their fall portraits outside and because Callie has grown a lot in the past 6 months. It’s too bad that the particular day we chose was extra chilly. Jamie braved the cold without his coat for a few guitar shots, and was all around an amazing trooper. Callie was content to stick her tongue out at me and adore her brother. I love watching the interaction between siblings! These two were precious to observe! Another precious family I will miss photographing…..

This last image is an example of what I love to look for during shoots. The little touches between family members that, in my opinion, define what it means to be part of a family.

Lily & Callum

Lily and Callum are no strangers to this blog. You saw Lily last here and Callum last here. This photo shoot was specifically to commemorate their age changes to 3 years of age and 1 year of age. If you click on the link you can see how much Callum’s grown in 7 months! On this particular day we had some unusually warm and wonderful spring weather. We all enjoyed a good time playing in the Cruickshank Gardens on the University of Aberdeen campus.

Every now and then you need a cracker to get you through a session!

Justin + Melissa + Jamie + Callie

Due to poor weather and a two month old, Justin and Melissa opted for an indoor session in their home last fall. So while we were all missing the chance to get outside to be with the fall leaves, we made do inside with a make-shift studio in their dining room. I think my favorite part of the day was watching two year old Jamie interact (with some uncertainty) with his little sister, Callie. Aren’t they precious!? Many thanks to Melissa and Justin who let me take over their space to get the perfect photos.

Joe + Katrina + Duncan

Next up from the family photos I took in the fall is Joe and Katrina with their tiny tot, Duncan, who had just turned one the day before these photos. Duncan was the first baby I ever tried to take portraits of about this time last year. I’ve learned a lot since then, and Duncan has grown up a lot too! You can see the two side-by-side photos where he is showing off his new walking skills. And I love that Duncan was sporting his kilt and other Scottish articles as a reminder about his birth in Scotland last October.  A special shout out to Joe and Katrina who made my job easy. Thanks guys!

Jeff + Allison + Abigail

Now that fall has come and gone long ago (and before spring is upon us), I thought I should finish posting all the families I photographed this past October and November. Here is Jeff and Allison, along with Abigail — who is much more grown up (and still very adorable) since  the last time she appeared on here. The poor thing, though, was in the midst of trying to cut her first teeth so was not too excited to be photographed that afternoon. But, all things considered, she held it together very well and with very few tears and that was impressive! Mom and Dad did a great job and took it all in stride. Thanks for the opportunity, Jeff and Allison, to photograph you and your sweet Abigail again.

Isla

I am unsure that I’ve ever met a baby girl who looks so much like a perfect little porcelain doll. She is beautiful! Nor have I ever met a baby (or child or adult for that matter) who looked at the camera so consistently. I was very impressed. She, and her parents, were a pleasure to work with. Thank you Kelly and David for letting me come into your home and capture yourselves and your lovely daughter!

And just one more because it is rather adorable, though I’m sure was painful for David at the time!

Nathaniel

I got to meet this handsome little guy the Sunday before Thanksgiving at my parent’s church. My heart melted pretty quickly upon seeing his absolute preciousness. His mom has been going through a rough time recently so my parents and I decided to team up to give her a memorable Christmas gift – some photos of her sweet son. I have to admit, it was probably the gift I was most excited to give this year. See if you aren’t charmed by his big, brown eyes and toothless 11 month old grin too!

While Nathaniel’s mom wasn’t planning on being in any photos I asked her if she’d like some with him. The below is just a small taste of some of the love I captured between them. I’m so glad I asked!

Mylo

A couple weeks ago I had the privilege of photographing a colleague’s three month old son, Mylo, along with herself and her partner.  They had some amazing windows in their home that my camera and I just ate up! While photographing and again during the editing process I’ve been reminded of why I love photographing families — because I get to capture those tender moments as parents interact with their children. It’s such a special thing to be a part of that for a brief span of time that will ultimately last forever through a photograph. So Elizabeth and Rez, thanks for letting me come into your home and be with you and your precious Mylo.

Cuddly Callum

There is not much not to love about this little boy.  He grins almost constantly, is full of “squeezableness,” and generally a very pleasant baby. I was looking forward to this photo shoot with much anticipation because of aforementioned goodness.  Plus, his mom is one of my good friends and I’ve watched his sister grow up for the past two years so hanging out with them is always a bonus.  I’m sure you might even remember his mom’s maternity shoot, and his 3 week old shots (he’s gained a few pounds since then!). Don’t you just want to squeeze him?!wpid918-IMG_2004.jpg

Nicholas

It was nearly a year ago that little Nicholas was born. It’s hard to believe I held his tiny body in my arms when he was only a few days old. So you can imagine my joy in getting to spend time with him this past week capturing his sweet, but active personality, and those killer big, brown eyes. As you can see from the first two photos, he and George are the best of friends!

Remember my first post showing photos from a friend’s maternity shoot? Here’s her precious little Callum just over 3 weeks old. Doesn’t he have such big, beautiful eyes?!

Sweet Abigail

Abigail is a sweet baby girl who was born in February to my friends (yes! lots of friends having babies right now!). She was so different to photograph than Duncan since she wasn’t moving around nearly as much. And her photo shoot is proof that even when newborns cry through part of their session, you can still get some adorable shots! Enjoy this little bundle of girl joy!

Wee Duncan

Duncan is my friend’s little boy, nearly 4 months old in these photos. He was incredibly cooperative given he is so young. It was fascinating to watch how aware he was of his surroundings. He loved investigating the baseball blanket (see basket shot below) that had been given to him as a gift when he was born.

Baby Benjamin

One of the best things about being a photographer is capturing the tender moments of peoples’ lives.  What a privilege to spend some time with a mother and her newborn. This is baby Benjamin at 10 days old.
